1. Why volunteer with Aim Abroad?

Aim Abroad has been offering successful volunteering experiences to foreigners from around the world since 2007. With Aim Abroad, your safety is our top priority, as we have carefully selected respected host families, drivers, and volunteering projects with which you will work. We have rules for volunteers to follow, which will ensure maximum safety of everyone: even at night time, you will be very safe. Our program fees are very minimal, and the payment is not necessary in advance until you arrive at the program in India (For programs in Nepal, a small deposit is required in advance and then the rest of the payment is accepted when you arrive at the program). We want to be as flexible as possible to the volunteers, which is why we do not accept payment until after you arrive in India or Nepal.

4. What types of meals will be served with Aim Abroad? Is the food fresh?

The food served to the volunteers is always fresh and of the highest quality. We can prepare food that is spicy or not spicy, with or without nuts, or with respect to other dietary restrictions. The food served to the volunteers will always accommodate to vegetarian diets; however, if a meat dish will be served on occasion, volunteers will always have a choice of the vegetarian option. Volunteers are also welcome to use the kitchens in the host families, guest homes, or orphanages to prepare their own food, if they prefer.

We have round the clock medical assistance available to volunteers, should they require it. We have several contacts, who are doctors of different specialties, who are ready to offer medical care to the volunteers.

6. What if I want to travel within India?

We usually have many volunteers with us at all times of the year. Volunteers typically go in pairs or in small groups to visit different tourist destinations within India on the weekends, when the volunteering projects do not run. We help volunteers with making arrangements to obtain train or bus tickets, or even help them plan their travels or offer advice from a local's perspective. Although we do not make financial arrangements for the volunteers, we are happy to help them plan their adventures within India.

8. How do volunteers arrive at the various volunteering projects?

Most of the volunteering projects are within walking distance from the host family homes or volunteering guest homes; however, some projects will require a 10-20 minute drive to the project. Volunteers usually take an auto rickshaw to the project, which will cost 20 Indian Rupees each way ($1USD is about 46 Indian Rupees depending on the exchange rate). Volunteers who will work in an orphanage project will reside within the orphanage, and will not require any transportation to other projects.

9. How do I arrive from the airport to the volunteering project?

At the airport, once you have exited the plane, you will proceed through customs and baggage claim. Once you have obtained your luggage, you will begin to exit the airport. As you leave the airport, but still within the airport, you will find a representative from Aim Abroad holding a card with your name and flight details on it: He will drive you to Aim Abroad's headquarters in Faridabad, where you meet a local coordinator.

10. How do I make the payment?

When you arrive from the airport at the volunteering project, you will fill out some paperwork for Aim Abroad. Afterwards, you may give the payment to the local coordinator from Aim Abroad, and we may make a receipt upon request. Typically, we accept payment in USD cash when you arrive at the volunteering program. If you prefer to make a payment in a different currency, you may exchange the currency in India and make the payment in INR (Indian Rupees) cash, depending upon that day's USD exchange rate with the INR.

12. What if I am unhappy with my volunteering program?

At Aim Abroad, we always encourage volunteers to feel as free as possible to make their suggestions, opinions, or complaints known to the local coordinators, who are only too happy to help the volunteers at all times. Should a volunteer wish to terminate her or his volunteering program, because of an emergency or complaint, we are able to offer a 50% refund on the program fees for the time not spent with Aim Abroad, for which the program fee will have been paid in advance. For cases other than emergencies, we require that volunteers speak with local coordinators about enhancing their programs before deciding to terminate their stay with us.
